Let me very first begin this short article by saying that I do not understand Linda Ikeji personally, we aren’t friends, and I have actually “fulfilled” her just a number of times at celebrations …

However with all of that being said, I also have a deep and abiding regard for her. Is that ironic? Perhaps. But I’ve concerned understand that you can disagree with somebody on something and still appreciate them. Whether you accept it or not, Linda has actually revealed through her of being a blog writer and viewpoint influencer, that she is an inspiration to numerous individuals all over the world. She has boot strapped her method to success using a design that was when unpopular and discounted. She’s an Outlier, and handles to inspire, prompt and baffle numerous at one time, and with fervour.

I can’t consider a great deal of individuals who’ve run a modelling firm, an occasions company, a publication and a lot of other businesses, failed at them, and still kept pushing forward. I likewise don’t know of anyone else (a minimum of not on this side of the world), who is legally making lots of money by blogging.
[ad] I indicate, before Linda, whoever thought it was possible to buy a house in Banana Island, and open a string of media-related businesses gotten from the proceeds of running a gossip blog site? If the United States of America has the “American dream,” then Linda Ifeoma Ikeji has the “Naija Dream.” Strong, relentless in its pursuit of happiness and hope, and eventually, successful. Here’s a woman who hit ground no eventually in her life, and is back to level 100. You have to respect such grit and decision, since as my Sapele individuals will state “E nor simple.”

Linda or “Lin-Lin” as she’s fondly called by those who are close to her turned 36 years of ages a couple of days back; and to mark her wedding, she posted a 14-minute long video on her blog. Within hours of her publishing this video, social networks was buzzing with all kinds of comments and remarks about it – and I understood that I had to see it for myself. 3 minutes into the video, I wasn’t quite sure whether I liked it or not, because it came off as slightly insincere and scripted; plus Linda looked a little uncomfortable facing the electronic camera. However, something changed soon after – I’m not even sure what. But the veneer of coolness cracked, and something more warm, earthy, authentic and vulnerable spilled out.
[advertisement] And as Linda started to discuss her failures, her desires, her relationship with God, her belief in the validity of her dreams, her utter awe at how her life turned out, and the affirmation that she still “strategies to be around for a long time,” something in me also offered way to the hope and motivation that she was sharing.

And maybe it was an emotional minute, possibly that thing was fleeting, but I acknowledged it, and I felt it highly. Because it was sincere, effective and heartfelt. And in that one unique moment, I forgot about all the times I disliked Linda, or all the irritating things she had done, and because suspended area, in between my laptop computer screen and her video, I celebrated with her. I cheered her on, and I desperately wanted her to be successful.

So you can envision my irritation when individuals took just a few seconds of that video – of her desiring a remarkable guy for a hubby – and turned it into an event for unsightly small talk, senseless rhetoric and painful remarks. How do you condense ALL she stated, and narrow that down to simply one section of her video? What is wrong if she honestly (and very honestly I might add), discussed what she desires? Is her desire for an other half somehow less valid or disgraceful due to the fact that she discussed it in the open? If she had spoken about further growing her company or purchasing another house – would those declarations be consulted with derisive remarks? Exists not a peaceful strength and dignity in such a guileless program of vulnerability? When individuals truthfully and truthfully open themselves, the least we can do, the least we should do as human beings is to accord them the respect and self-respect that they deserve.
